Mesut Ozil was the star as Arsenal demolished Bournemouth 5-1 in their biggest home win of the current season.

Playing their third game in six days, Arsenal was completely shuffled as Emery rested six players who had started Sunday’s win over Southampton, giving Mesut Ozil a first league start in a month and Carl Jenkinson his first since November 2016 (830 days).

Mesut Ozil sets the tune of the game with scoring in his signature style taping the ball inside the box just to leave the Bournemouth keeper Artur Boruc trying to keep the ball off the net just inside 5 minutes.

The playmaker again made his presence felt when he assisted Mkhitaryan at the 27th minute of the match When Adam Smith’s poor pass was picked up Mkhitaryan, he passed the ball to Ozil then netted the ball with a beautiful one-two in front of goal.

Bournemouth did look dangerous on the break, Bernd Leno denied Ryan Fraser between those goals but was powerless when Dan Gosling dispossessed Matteo Guendouzi on the edge of the Arsenal box and Arsenal conceded their 1000th Premier League Goal.

After the half time, Laurent Koscielny took no time to extend the lead when a low cross from Henrikh Mkhitaryan in front of the goal and steers it to goal. Aubameyang was there to make sure that the ball crosses the line.

Soon after, Aubameyang joins the party when a well-timed cross from Mkhitaryan in a classic Arsene Wenger style of play. The Armenian was pressed by two Bournemouth players when he made a ground cross to Aubameyang who dodged Artur Boruc and slots into the empty net.

Arsenal extended the lead to make this their biggest victory of the season since Arsene Wenger’s last match when Lucas Torreira won a free kick at the edge of Bournemouth’s box, Alex Lacazette stepped up to curl an unstoppable strike into the bottom corner.

This win has boosted the confidence in the Arsenal team ahead of their derby clash against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday. The match against Tottenham will also give them a chance to strengthen their position in the top 4 of the premier league and reduce a 4 points gap between the two teams.
