
After scoring a blissful knock of 69 off 81 balls. Ross Taylor has become the leading run scorer for New Zealand in one-day international.
Taylor helped the host post a total of 330. He has reached to a tally of 47 ODI half-century and took him to 8,026 runs, surpassing Stephen Fleming’s 8,007.
Tylor, who has turned 34 took 203 innings to reach this milestone with a superb average of 48.34. He also became fourth-fastest batman to mark 8,000 runs only behind Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Sourav Ganguly. He also holds the record for most number of ODI tons and half-centuries than any of his countrymen.
Ross Taylor, born on 8th March 1984 also has an impressive test record, scoring 6523 runs in 161 innings with an average of 45.9 which includes 17 centuries and 30 half-centuries. He also have a strike rate of 121.1 in T20I scoring 1579 runs in 80 innings but failed to score any hundred. It is more interesting to know that Tylor’s first sport was hockey.
Going unsold in IPL auction of 2019 he has last featured for Pune Warriors India in 2013 but, failed to make an impact. Once Anil Kumble had called him “murderer of spinners” for his explosive inning of 65 off 38 balls against Delhi Daredevils at Champions League Twenty20 2009.
Keeping in mind that this will be their last tournament before the world cup and this could be his last word cup as he will be turning 35 this year.
